Question

AestheFill swelling and lumps

Anonymous Patient · 🌐 繁中

Hello, Dr. Liu,

I received AestheFill (艾麗斯) treatment for my nasolabial folds 2.5 months ago, 2cc on each side, with an appointment to add another 2cc to each side after 2 months.

At my follow-up visit 2 weeks ago, a small lump could be felt on the left side, though it wasn't visible and didn't affect my facial expressions; the right side seemed to have nothing at all. I informed and asked the doctor about this, and they said it would be injected in a different location, that the lumps wouldn't accumulate, and that there wouldn't be any bulging post-procedure. So I went ahead with the touch-up. However, more than 2cc was added to the left side, while less than 2cc was added to the right (my left nasolabial fold is deeper than my right).

A week later, I noticed that my philtrum looks strange and compressed when I smile (as shown in the photo; it doesn't show up well in the picture, but it is much more obvious in person). The lump on the left has gotten bigger, and there is a circular arc even when I'm not smiling. On the right, the swelling when smiling is more noticeable than on the left, but it is relatively flat when not smiling. Also, over the past two days, I've felt a sort of tight, aching sensation on the left side.

I have read your articles and have an appointment, but it's a long wait...
Is there anything I can do at this stage?
Would you recommend that I get a steroid injection (消炎針)?
I am so worried that the lump will grow larger...
