From Taoyuan Airport (TPE)

Airport MRT + Taipei MetroRecommended

Time:
About 70–90 min
Fare:
NT$160 + NT$20 = NT$180
  1. After arrivals, follow the “Airport MRT” signs: Terminal 1 is station A12, Terminal 2 is A13.
  2. Take the purple Express train to Taipei Main Station (A1): about 36–39 min, NT$160. Express trains run every 15 min and stop only at A1, A3, A8, A12 and A13.
  3. Exit the gates at A1 and follow the signs to the Taipei Metro red line platform at Taipei Main Station. The two railways are separate companies, so you leave one and re-enter the other.
  4. Take the Tamsui–Xinyi Line (red) toward “Guangci/Fengtian Temple” for 6 stops to Xinyi Anhe (R04): about 12 min, NT$20. Older guides say “toward Xiangshan”; the terminus has changed.
  5. Leave by the exit listed above for your clinic and walk over.
  • Last trains: the last Express leaves A13 at 22:55 and A12 at 22:58; the later commuter trains leave very little time to catch the Taipei Metro. If you land after about 22:30, take a taxi.
  • By taxi: about 40–45 min without traffic, longer at peak times. Fares are metered plus highway tolls; our estimate is roughly NT$1,200–1,500, and a ride-hailing app’s quote is more reliable. Check the airport taxi rank for any surcharge.

From Songshan Airport (TSA)

Taipei Metro (Wenhu Line, then Tamsui–Xinyi Line)Recommended

Time:
About 25–35 min
Fare:
NT$25
  1. Songshan Airport station (BR13) is right outside the terminal; Exit 3 is about 40 m in front of it.
  2. Take the Wenhu Line (brown) toward “Taipei Zoo” for 4 stops to Daan (BR09): about 8 min.
  3. Change inside Daan station to the Tamsui–Xinyi Line (red) toward “Guangci/Fengtian Temple”; Xinyi Anhe (R04) is the next stop.
  • The Wenhu Line uses small carriages, so big suitcases are a squeeze. A taxi takes about 8 min without traffic, roughly NT$170–250.

Kaohsiung Wenkang

Nearest metro station: Ecological District (R15, Kaohsiung Metro Red Line)

  • Kaohsiung Wenkang (No. 113, Wenkang Rd.): Exit 1, about 460 m, a 6–7 minute walk (escalators only). With large luggage, use Exit 2 (lift), about 570 m.
  • Kaohsiung Wenkang · No. 113, Wenkang Rd., Zuoying Dist., Kaohsiung City · Google Maps

From Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH)

Kaohsiung Metro Red Line, no transferRecommended

Time:
About 25 min on the train
Fare:
NT$45
  1. From the international terminal, after customs, go to Kaohsiung International Airport station (R4) via Exit 6 (lift).
  2. Take the Red Line toward “Gangshan Station” (northbound) for 12 stops to Ecological District (R15): about 25 min, NT$45.
  3. Leave by the exit listed above and walk to the clinic.
  • The last northbound train leaves R4 at about 00:02; after that, taxi only. Trains run every 4–6 min at peak and at most every 8 min off-peak.
  • Taxi: the international-terminal rank is metered plus a NT$50 surcharge; about 20 min to the clinic without traffic, roughly NT$500–650. Ride-hailing pick-ups are at the Daye N. Rd. bus stop across from the airport, reached through the metro underpass, Exit 1.

From Taoyuan Airport (TPE)

Airport MRT + High Speed Rail + Kaohsiung Metro

Time:
About 2.5–3.5 hours
Fare:
About NT$1,385 (THSR standard reserved seat)
  1. Take the blue Commuter train on the Airport MRT to A18 (THSR Taoyuan Station): about 16–20 min, NT$35. Express trains do not stop at A18.
  2. Walk to THSR Taoyuan Station and take a train to Zuoying: about 85–110 min on board. Standard reserved NT$1,330, non-reserved NT$1,290.
  3. THSR Zuoying connects to Kaohsiung Metro Zuoying (R16). Ride the Red Line one stop toward Xiaogang to Ecological District (R15): about 3 min, NT$20. Or take a taxi from the station: about 7 min, roughly NT$130–150.
  • The last THSR train from Taoyuan to Zuoying usually leaves around 22:30, so to reach Kaohsiung the same day, board the Airport MRT by about 21:45. Check the THSR website for the day you travel.
  • THSR luggage: each piece up to 150 cm long, 220 cm in total dimensions and 40 kg; large bags go in the racks at the ends of each car.

Practical tips

Paying for transit

The Airport MRT, Taipei Metro and Kaohsiung Metro all accept contactless VISA, Mastercard, JCB and UnionPay cards and phone wallets at the gate; tap in and out with the same card. You can also buy an EasyCard at Airport MRT stations (NT$100 for the card, plus top-up). Taxis always take cash; some take cards or mobile pay, so ask before you get in.

Ride-hailing apps

Common options in Taiwan are Taiwan Taxi (55688), Uber, LINE TAXI and yoxi.

Phone and data

Taiwan shut down its 3G networks in 2024. A phone or SIM without VoLTE cannot call 110, 119 or 112, so check before you fly. At Kaohsiung airport, the international arrivals hall has bank exchange counters; change money there before you leave the airport.
