Stony Hard Lump One Year After Upper Eyelid Fat Grafting: Ultrasound-Guided Extraction Record
Dr. Ta-Ju Liu · 11/2/2026
She had fat grafting done abroad a year ago, into her forehead and upper eye sockets. A year later, she felt a lump at the outer corner of her right eye. It was as hard as a stone and could move around; with her eyes open, it was almost invisible from the outside.
Under ultrasound, this mass was clearly visible. Injected fat sometimes gradually hardens over time. The skin of the upper eye socket is very thin, with the lacrimal gland right next to it. Although the skin surface over this lump was very thin, the mass itself was hidden quite deep. Because it was hard to pinpoint by touch alone, we had to rely on ultrasound guidance to extract it bit by bit.
Checking with ultrasound again after the extraction, that dark mass was gone. Immediately after the procedure, the area felt flat when pressed, leaving only a single pinhole. This is a record right after the procedure; subsequent swelling and recovery vary from person to person.
